5 Good Restaurants To Visit In The GTA

Unless you’re planning on saving up on gas money to pursue a nationwide “You Gotta Eat Here” food trip, it’s nice to know that there is some delicious local grub. Vaughan definitely has its share of mainstream, big chain restaurants like The Keg or Montana’s, which are good places to grab a bite, no doubt, but the GTA offers a rich culture. In this case, culture is displayed in food and it tastes amazing. In no particular order, here are 5 good restaurants you may or may not have known about that are really close to home!

1. Antonino’s Pizzeria and Panini

This little Italian restaurant is nestled in the corner of Rutherford and Confederation, but its small location shares no correlation with its booming flavour. Known for their authentic Italian menu, they won the Saputo’s Pizza Hall of Fame title for #1 Pizzeria in Canada. Antonino’s has it all from soups and salads to start, to their famous pizzas and panzerottis, or their selection of sandwiches and meat dishes. With prompt and courteous service accompanied by great food, no wonder consumer loyalty is so high. So, next time you’re in the mood for Italian, give Antonino’s a try. After all, “Nobody Makes a Panino Like Antonino’s!”

2. Kyoto Japanese Cuisine

Just thinking about the amazing spicy salmon rolls this place whips up is making my mouth water. Kyoto brings humble Japanese cuisine to Weston and Rutherford for a dining experience you won’t soon forget. From fresh, delicious sushi rolls to the fragrant warmth of miso soup to flavourful fried rice to the cool, beauty of gleaming sashimi, it’s no wonder they won the “Best of Vaughan” award in 2012 in the category of Japanese cuisine presented by the mayor of the city. This restaurant is always packed during the dinner rush, especially on the weekends, but if you arrive around 8pm you should have a table in minutes. The prices are also fairly reasonable for all you can eat being $19.99 for adults on weeknights and $21.99 on weekends. Take a trip to Weston and Rutherford sometime because this superb All You Can Eat Japanese Restaurant will take your taste buds on tour of Kyoto.

3. Fat Bastard Burrito Co

They keep it nice and simple at Fat Bastard with the menu being whatever kind of burrito you want…or whatever kind of quesadilla you want. They pack bursts of flavours previously unknown to man in one mouth watering punch, leaving your gut spilling over your waistband and your taste buds trembling with satisfaction. With roots beginning in Toronto, they have recently expanded with their newest location at Weston and Highway 7. Kick back and enjoy some chips and salsa before a fat bastard of a burrito or quesadilla is served for your enjoyment.

4. Maple Garden Chinese Restaurant

Dine in or takeout at this unassuming location for some of the most delicious Chinese food in Maple. Sweet and sour chicken balls, beef fried rice; breaded shrimp, shrimp noodles and more can be found at Keele and one street North of Major Mackenzie Dr W. They constantly have coupons and specials you should check in for such as their All You Can Eat Lunch Special for only $8.00! The food tastes fresh and yummy and it is extremely affordable. 4 people can order takeout for around $30.00 with plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Give Maple Garden a call the next time you are in dire need of some Chinese takeout and make sure you take advantage of their coupons!

5. Sunset Grill

Good morning, delicious and healthy food! Sunset Grill is considered to have the best breakfast in town with a huge fan base of loyal consumers. Its Major Mackenzie W and Dufferin location offers a bright, full way to get the morning off on the right foot with fast service, fresh food, and hopefully, great company if you have some. They serve every breakfast item you could possibly want from fresh Belgian waffles to pancakes or French toast, to eggs prepared any way you wish to delicious diced potatoes, toast, and of course, bacon. Burgers, sandwiches and salads can also be found on their lunch menu. Sunset Grill guarantees fresh, healthy food and should you choose to have breakfast there next, your morning will be off to a great start…alongside a nice cold glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Well, I hope you’re hungry, because I certainly am with all the diverse, bountiful flavours offered within such a close vicinity in the GTA. Don’t deny your cravings. If you’re in the mood for pizza or sushi or chicken balls or breakfast, let your taste buds lead the way and start exploring the great restaurants around you!
